We were on TV!

We were on TV!

Cash, Polly and I had a very exciting morning today. We appeared on CTV Morning Live Atlantic, and the kids cooked omelettes on air. I talked about bringing kids into the kitchen and cooking from scratch, and promoted my March Break cooking workshops (happening next week!). The kids were champions. They weren't nervous at all, and cracked eggs with aplomb.

I chose omelettes as the dish to cook on television because it is one of the simplest things you can make: two eggs, butter, and parmesan. (I posted the recipe here). The kids are confident making them and it's one of Cash's favourite foods; in fact, when the host asked him what his favourite thing to cook is, he replied, "omelettes!"  Two of my main principles when cooking with kids are whole ingredients and hands-on methods, and eggs are a perfect vehicle for showcasing both.

If you'd like to watch the complete segment, you can find it here. I enjoyed thinking about how Julia Child cooked an omelette on one of the first episodes of The French Chef, in 1963. What a fun morning we had! Thanks CTV!
