Welcome. I'm Claire, and this is Bite-Sized Kitchen! I've been living in Halifax's North End for over four years. I love to cook with my two children, Cash (4.5) and Polly (3). When we moved to this neighbourhood, gentle Cash was just starting to explore solid foods. From the beginning, I have cooked from scratch for him and with him, at our heavy wooden dining room table and on stools at kitchen counters. Feisty Polly joined the Bite-Sized clan in 2014. In this blog, I want to demonstrate how bringing kids into the kitchen with you is an exciting and doable activity, and that doughy hands and splattering eggs will help keep children's minds, hands and tastebuds active all their lives.
Together, my kids and I have made dishes such as sourdough bread (see above), fish in breadcrumbs, countless smoothies and whole-fruit popsicles, fresh pasta noodles, meatballs, soft scrambled eggs, and of course, many a special birthday cake....an activity which will require its own future post (European buttercream frosting included!).
